Joking Culture

In my fieldwork, I have come across some of the small details and meanings of jokes within my own group of friends. Making jokes mostly crosses my path when I am in my group of friends, this is because in a group setting, everyone is trying to top each other seeking the most attention. This is most often done by making jokes, this can be executed in many different ways depending on the setting, and-or context, jokes are mostly used as a comfort move, showing people you are willing to talk and be open, most often, the one with the best jokes will become the almost “center” of the group, for they are expected to entertain more than not.
